The Crossthread Story

American by birth, shade-tree mechanic by...necessity.

In the Spring of 2020 I (Steve) stripped my daily driver, a 1990 Dodge D-250 with a Cummins and a 5-speed, down to a rolling chassis and began rebuilding my daily driver with the body and bed off a 1947 Chevy 6100 pickup. 2 weeks later I drove the "Chummins" rat rod out of the driveway for the first time. This was the day Crossthread Garage was born.

I began joking with friends and family about opening my 'shade-tree' garage under the moniker of Crossthread Garage, because while I had got the job done, I hadn't done any of it 'right.'

Over the years I have owned just about one of everything, and acquired a set of skills I want to pass on to my daughter, K8lynn. We started our YouTube channel in 2023 with a GMC C-10 revival designed to allow me to teach K8lynn basic mechanic skills on the iconic small block chevy, turbo-350 trans, and 1/2 ton pickup. What could be better than a dad teaching his daughter how to be comfortable and competent in the garage?

Our aim is to salvage old vehicles from the treelines, barns, and garages of the Mid-west and put them back on the road. Thus, Crossthread Garage & Salvage.

Check us out over on YT to follow along as K8lynn begins work on her 1941 Ford pickup, we're affectionately referring to as "Traffic Cone."
